This Mom’s Fudge is a timeless homemade treat made with rich chocolate, a smooth and creamy texture, and crunchy bits of nuts in every bite. It’s simple to prepare and perfect for holidays, gift boxes, or whenever you’re craving a traditional chocolate dessert.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (400 g) granulated sugar

  • ½ cup (120 ml) whole milk

  • ½ cup (115 g) unsalted butter

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 ½ cups (260 g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • ¾ cup (90 g) chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans work well)

  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

Prepare the Pan

Line an 8×8-inch baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
Set aside.

Cook the Fudge Base

In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, milk, butter, and salt.
Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring constantly.

Once boiling, reduce the heat slightly and continue cooking for 4–5 minutes, stirring to prevent sticking or burning.

Add Chocolate and Vanilla

Remove the saucepan from heat.
Stir in the chocolate chips and vanilla extract until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.

Fold in the chopped nuts.

Set the Fudge

Pour the fudge mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly with a spatula.

Let it cool at room temperature for about 2 hours, or refrigerate for faster setting.

Once firm, cut into small squares.

Storage and Serving

Store fudge in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for up to 1 week.
Serve as a dessert, snack, or edible gift.

Helpful Tips

  • Stir constantly while boiling to achieve a smooth texture.
