Instructions
1. Preheat Oven
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
2. Make the Cookie Base
Cream butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
Add egg and vanilla; mix well.
In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, and salt.
Gradually combine with wet ingredients.
Fold in chocolate chips.
Press dough evenly into prepared baking dish.
3. Prepare the Gooey Filling
Beat cream cheese until smooth.
Add egg, powdered sugar, and vanilla.
Mix until creamy and lump-free.
Fold in chocolate chips.
Spread evenly over cookie base.
4. Bake
Bake for 30–35 minutes until edges are golden and center is slightly set but still soft.
Do not overbake—the center should remain gooey.
5. Cool & Slice
Let cool completely before cutting for clean squares.
