Ingredients:
Protein:
½ lb large shrimp, peeled & deveined
½ lb smoked sausage, sliced (Andouille works great)
Pasta:
8 oz fettuccine or penne (your choice)
Veggies:
1 bell pepper (red or yellow), sliced
½ onion, sliced
2–3 cloves garlic, minced
Sauce:
1 cup heavy cream
½ cup chicken broth
½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
2–3 tsp Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste)
Salt & pepper to taste
Optional: crushed red pepper flakes for heat
Other:
1–2 tbsp olive oil or butter
Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions:
Cook pasta according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.
Sauté shrimp:
Season shrimp with 1 tsp Cajun seasoning.
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high.
Cook shrimp 1–2 mins per side until just pink. Remove and set aside.
Cook sausage & veggies:
In the same skillet, add sliced sausage. Brown for a few minutes.
Add onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Cook until soft (about 5 mins).
Make the sauce:
Reduce heat to medium-low.
Pour in heavy cream and chicken broth.
Stir in Parmesan and remaining Cajun seasoning. Simmer until slightly thickened.
Combine:
Add cooked pasta, shrimp, and any juices back into the skillet.
Toss to coat in sauce. Simmer for 1–2 mins to let flavors combine.
Serve:
Garnish with fresh parsley and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes if you like it spicier.
Tips:
Add spinach or mushrooms for extra veggies.
Use half-and-half for a lighter sauce (but cream is best for richness).
Make it extra Cajun with blackened shrimp or hot sauce drizzle.
